  • Check, Check, and Check!

I haven't had a chance to update in quite some time, but I've just been a very busy bee!

    1. Videographer - booked! (well, almost. Still waiting for him to send the contract) I searched high and low for someone within our budget as this was something that wasn't a high priority for us. It's mostly a 'neccessity' for our parents, so after receiving several recommendations from local knotties, I found Adam Kegg, who's been sooo nice and easy to work with.
    2. Makeup/Hair - booked! My fabulous gfs Khanh and Marie have worked with Rocio Vielma on photoshoots before and recommended I have my trial with her. She is a doll and absolutely gorgeous. Her rates are very reasonable as well.
    3. Bridesmaid dresses - my talented friend Khanh will be making our BM dresses. The girls recently decided on each of their styles, so we'll be going to look for fabric soon!
I've had some good luck recently! I never ever win anything, but I was reading one of the online wedding blogs I subscribe to, and I was very pleasantly surprised to see this on iDiY :

I'll be receiving my embosser within the next week or so -- I'll update you guys on the quality. Can't wait!!! I've now made a vow to comment on every single blog/contest I see! You never know when you might win something! :)

My company recently held a naming contest for a new product we launched last quarter. They announced the winner at our last all-hands meeting and low and behold --- guess who won!? And the best part? The prize was for $2k, baby! And all of it is going to the wedding! Now the hard part is deciding what I want to splurge on! :)

Must end this update with a pic of our new boy, Kirby. Another reason as to my MIA status.

  • The Dress - Score!

After much debate, two of my ladies and I hit up the bridal sample sale at Stanley Korshack this afternoon and I am so happy and relieved to announce that I found my dress!!! Ever since I became engaged, I have not been excited one bit to go dress shopping. I know many brides-to-be look forward to the finding THE dress, but I literally felt sweaty and nauseous just thinking about it. Think Carrie Bradshaw in that one SATC episode where she broke out into hives and hyperventilated. That is moi.

It was actually a lot of fun today because:

    1. we got there late, and a lot of dresses were already gone -- translation: I wouldn't have to try on that many
    2. we didn't have a saleslady to constantly bother aka assist us; my girls were grabbing every dress they could find that had potential
    3. we had a huge dressing room to ourself so all three of us were in there having fun trying on dresses

The dress gods must have been smiling on me because I bought the first dress I tried on -- and the best part of today was that I totally scored on a Kenneth Pool gown for.........wait for it............wait for it............can you believe $600?!!

Now that I've gone over budget for the photographer, I actually made up for it because I went underbudget for the dress! Go me. :)

    Here's a sneak peak :)

  • Photographer - Booked!

I'm SOOO glad to finally be able to check this off the long list of "To Do Before I Decide to Elope" list. I've been stalking our photographer for the past year -- ever since I've been engaged -- and haven't been able to find another team that has been able to sway my decision to book them for our wedding. They have a fun, laid back, and casual style that I LOVE. I almost lost my date to another bride, but luckily I snagged them before she could. You snooze, you lose!

Check them out at Perez Weddings.

I am super excited for our engagement session in the spring!

    Next up, entertainment!!

  • The Anti-Bride

I pour over wedding porn all day long from all sorts of various sources and the more I see pictures of different weddings, the more I am realizing that they look all the same!!! Don't get me wrong -- I still oooohh and ahhhh over all the details and images of other people's weddings, but I'm starting to feel very anti-bride and compelled to do all that I can to make my wedding unlike the generic cookie-cutter wedding. Maybe I'm starting to feel a little overwhelmed at all the potential prospects of personalizing our big day and making it about US -- I have all these ideas, but get very stressed out at the thought of how to execute these plans.

Maybe it's the holidays that is stressing me out. Maybe it's the 10 pounds that I've gained and hid underneath all my winter sweaters that is making me turn into Debbie Downer.

How did you personalize your wedding?

How cute is THIS for Save the Dates? Check out what this creative/geeky couple did for their theme here.

  • Second thoughts?

I didn't want a videographer for our wedding, but after seeing this amazing video, I'm having second thoughts.

Check out Justine & Gary's wedding - it absolutely captures every emotion that a couple should experience on their day. You can just see how much love there is.

check out the the flowergirl dresses!  too freaking adorable!
